When Bill O'Reilly came was a guest on The View recently, the conversation drifted to the recent "Mosque-at-Ground-Zero" debate and how President Obama handled himself when asked about it. O'Reilly, made some pretty ignorant comments about who attacked on 9/11 and how Americans felt about the issue--resulting in Whoopie and Joy angrily walking out of their own show.



When watching this, I got really upset--how is this even an issue? Obviously they have a right to practice their religion wherever and however they choose. Do people still have such anger and prejudice towards a whole group of people? This is America--land of the FREE.

I understand that the families of 9/11 are still grieving and that it might be hard to see the larger picture because their lives we changed drastically because of the attacks. But, the people who attacked on 9/11 weren't an entire culture, but a small, extremist, microcosm of that culture. Why should we judge an entire group of people for the actions of a relative few?

I definately wouldn't want to be judged by another country based on what Bill O'Reilly is saying--I would be totally offended.

Even more, a lot of the people who died in the attacks were Muslim--shouldn't their memory be respected as equally as those who were, say, Catholic or Jewish? Why is it so easy for "Bill O'Reilly's 70% of Americans" to respect some people who were killed, but apparently not others? O'Reilly says that he and the majority of Americans share the same view, defending the families and those who were attacked--do they see their own hypocrisy in choosing to defend and judge at the same time?

Not only does the Mosque have a right to be built there, Constitutionally, but in my opinion, a need to be built there--almost as a way of "cleansing", creating peace, and healing. I think, as Americans, we are hindering our healing process if we don't let the Mosque be built--creating more prejudice and hatred does not help anyone.

If I were on the show when Bill O'Reilly made those comments, I would have walked off too--and hopefully I would be wearing those fierce light up shoes Whoopie has on! Girl--that made your walk all the more epic!

In Need of a Change

So, dearest Interwebz, I think that I'm in need of a change. A somewhat drastic one.

I think that I want to cut all of my hair off. I have chopped my hair off-and donated it-before, but somehow it always takes some building of confidence to actually go to the salon to have it cut off. I'm a bit nervous to do it because my hair is so long now (and to tell you the truth, I've been putting off getting a hair cut for, like, the past year) but I keep doing the same thing with it everyday--SUPER BORING--and I feel like the longer it gets, the harder it is to control.

What do you think? Too crazypants?
